How meal analysis works

KetoLock defaults to Automatic. On a compatible iPhone, it first attempts Apple Intelligence for the supported Describe-a-Meal conversation. When you tap Review & Log, KetoLock sends only your exact meal words over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to its cloud service to ground the nutrition estimate before you review it. Photo meal analysis uses the cloud service in this version. If the on-device conversation is unavailable or fails, Automatic may also use the disclosed cloud conversation fallback.

You can instead choose On-device only, which never uploads analysis content. In that mode, text extraction is local and is not database-grounded, while cloud photo analysis is unavailable. Choose Cloud when you intentionally want cloud conversation and analysis.

When cloud analysis or a database lookup is used:

• Meal photos you scan are passed to an AI vision model (currently Google's Gemini) to identify foods and estimate portions.
• Meal descriptions and chat messages are passed to a cloud language model when you request cloud processing, when Automatic needs its disclosed fallback, or when you tap Review & Log for database-grounded nutrition.
• Barcodes and food names are looked up against public food databases, including Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central. KetoLock sends the barcode number or food query plus pseudonymous authentication and rate-limit information—not your food log or Health data.

KetoLock does not write submitted photos, descriptions, or conversations to its application database. Cloud AI providers process the submitted content and may retain request data temporarily for security, abuse prevention, and service operation under their own terms and privacy policies. KetoLock does not use submitted content for advertising or to build an advertising profile.

On-device Apple Intelligence

When Apple Intelligence supports the requested conversational task and completes it successfully, that chat runs on your iPhone. Hardware, language, region, operating-system, and model availability can affect support. Automatic Review & Log still sends your exact meal words for database-grounded nutrition as explained above. On-device only never falls back to the cloud.

What never leaves your iPhone

Your food log, macro goals, profile details (age, height, weight, sex, diet style), fasting history, water, steps, calories burned, weight history, and anything KetoLock reads from Apple Health (steps, active energy, blood glucose) are stored locally on your device. KetoLock reads Apple Health data only with your permission and never uploads it anywhere.

Security, allowances, and purchases

To authenticate genuine copies of the app, prevent abuse, enforce cloud-analysis allowances, and restore Pro access, KetoLock processes a device-generated installation identifier, Apple App Attest data, IP-derived rate-limit data, request identifiers, daily successful-use counts, and cryptographically signed StoreKit transaction data. Direct identifiers are transformed with one-way keyed hashing before they are used as quota keys. These records are pseudonymous, are not used for advertising, and do not contain your Apple ID or payment-card details.

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. Apple may provide signed purchase and subscription lifecycle information such as product, environment, expiration, revocation, and anonymous transaction identifiers. KetoLock verifies this information to provide Pro access and to enforce one shared Pro allowance across restored devices.

Optional connected services

If you choose to connect a third-party service (such as Fitbit via the Google Health API, when available), KetoLock will read only the activity data you authorize (such as steps and active calories), use it solely to display your activity in the app, and let you disconnect at any time. KetoLock's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

No ads, no trackers, no data sales

KetoLock contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no cross-app trackers. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The service-provider processing needed to perform a request is described below.

This website. ketolock.app uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and which links referred you. It is cookieless, does not follow you across other websites, and never receives your name, email address, or any information from the app. The KetoLock app itself still contains no third-party analytics SDK: measurement inside the app is first-party and aggregate.

Service providers

KetoLock uses Apple for on-device intelligence, App Attest, and purchases; Google Gemini and other configured cloud AI providers for applicable cloud analysis; and food-data services such as Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central for lookups. Those providers process only the data needed for the requested service and operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

Data retention and deletion

Deleting an entry in KetoLock removes the local entry, and deleting the app removes KetoLock's local database from that device. KetoLock retains pseudonymous security, entitlement, rate-limit, and allowance records only as reasonably necessary to operate subscriptions, protect the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Cloud providers may temporarily retain submitted request data under their own security and abuse-prevention policies. Children

KetoLock is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
